Unincorporated Adams County has a block-party trailer

A Porch Note from Colorado Porch — plain-English local details for all 64 Colorado counties.

Want to close off the street and throw a real block party? Adams County will hand you most of the gear for free. The Block Party Trailer is a complimentary program for people who live in unincorporated parts of the county, run through Neighborhood Services and loaned out first-come, first-served.

What rolls up is the boring-but-essential stuff a good party actually runs on: games, sports equipment, cones, barricades, trash and recycling supplies, tables, chairs, and more. Neighborhood events rarely fail for lack of goodwill. They fail because nobody owned the logistics, the seating, the trash plan, the bit that keeps cars from cruising through while kids are out. A trailer full of tables and traffic cones quietly solves that, and it spares a host from begging folding chairs off half the street.

The catch worth knowing is the unincorporated boundary. The trailer is for addresses outside city limits, so if you live inside Brighton, Thornton, Commerce City, or another incorporated town, this particular program is not yours to book. Your city may run something similar, or it may run nothing at all.

Because there is one trailer and a single summer’s worth of weekends, the dates fill up. If your address sits in unincorporated county, it is worth checking your spot and reserving well ahead of the day you have in mind, rather than calling the week before and finding it already out on someone else’s cul-de-sac.
