Arapahoe Animal Services does not cover every Arapahoe address
A Porch Note from Colorado Porch — plain-English local details for all 64 Colorado counties.
A barking dog, an animal running loose, a bite, a welfare worry — the urgent detail feels like what happened. The detail that decides who actually shows up is where it happened.
Arapahoe County Animal Services responds to animal-related calls in unincorporated Arapahoe County, Deer Trail, and the Town of Foxfield. Anywhere outside that area, the right call is to the animal service in your own city or town. The county line and the animal-services line are not the same line.
This trips people up most on the populated west side of the county, where Aurora, Englewood, Littleton, and their neighbors press up against each other and the unincorporated pockets. A complaint in any of those cities goes through that city’s own process, even though the mailing address still reads Arapahoe County. Dialing the county for a problem inside city limits usually just adds a step and a delay, which is the last thing you want when an animal is loose or a bite needs reporting.
The fix is quick. Before you file, check the address against the county’s animal-services area to learn which agency owns the call. If the spot falls inside the county’s coverage, the county animal-services page lays out how to submit a concern and which details to include. If it falls inside a city, you have saved yourself a wrong call and a wait at the worst possible moment.
