Front Range
Long's Pine Grove gives Four Square Mile a little shade and skyline
A Porch Note from Colorado Porch — plain-English local details for all 64 Colorado counties.
At South Uinta Way and Florida Avenue, in the Four Square Mile neighborhood, sits a 3.7-acre park and open-space property that earns its name honestly. Long’s Pine Grove holds significant stands of mature pines, dense enough to give the whole spot a woodsy feel that is hard to find in this part of the metro.
The land slopes from east down to west, and that tilt does the park a favor: it opens up views of the Colorado Front Range. Below the trees you get picnic areas, restrooms, play areas, turf, a natural area, and a short walking path. The High Line Canal Trail runs within reach, so the park doubles as a small trailhead.
This is the kind of pocket park that vanishes in a countywide list of open space. It is not trying to be a destination, and it does not need to be. For one dense neighborhood it supplies shade on a hot day, a place to let kids run, a few minutes of quiet, and a framed look back toward the mountains — the things a small park is actually for.
Arapahoe County keeps a page for Long’s Pine Grove with current access, amenities, and shelter details if you want to plan a visit or reserve space.
