Boulder County is split between two big school districts
Boulder County is served mainly by two school districts, Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley, and which one a home falls in depends on its address, not just its town name.

If schools matter to your move, here is a Boulder County basic worth getting right: the county is not one school district. It is mostly two.
The southern and central parts of the county, including the city of Boulder, are generally served by Boulder Valley School District. The northern and eastern parts, including Longmont, Lyons, Niwot, and several plains towns, are generally served by St. Vrain Valley Schools, which actually reaches across into neighboring counties as well. The line between them does not always follow city limits, so a home on the edge of one town can be assigned to the “other” district than you might guess from the address.
This affects real, daily things: which schools children attend, where the buses run, and the school portion of the property tax bill, since each district sets its own levy. Two similar homes a short distance apart can sit in different districts with different schools and different costs.
Because boundaries can shift over time, do not rely on a neighbor’s word or an old map. Both districts publish official address-lookup tools that show the assigned schools for a specific home. Check the right district’s finder for the exact property before you count on a particular school.
