Jeffco hybrid hearings need the right participation link

A Porch Note from Colorado Porch — plain-English local details for all 64 Colorado counties.

Watching a Jeffco hearing and taking part in one are two different things, and the difference comes down to which page you open.

For the Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Adjustment, you can both watch and participate in a hybrid hearing, either in person or by WebEx. That is the route to use when you want to be heard. The hybrid-hearing setup is built to carry your voice into the room, not just show you the room.

The live meeting portal is a different door. From there you can watch a meeting as it happens, but you cannot speak or respond through that platform. It is a window, not a microphone.

The trap is easy to fall into: you find the video link, settle in to follow a land-use case, and only realize at the comment moment that the stream offers no way to talk back. So if you mean to speak, plan from the agenda and the hybrid-hearing instructions rather than the watch link, and join through WebEx ahead of time.

When the links get confusing, the case manager named on the agenda is the person who can sort out exactly how to connect for your hearing.
