River Bluffs is a small Poudre River window near I-25

River Bluffs Open Space is small, and that is part of its charm. Tucked into southeast Fort Collins, it gives over about half a mile of the Cache la Poudre River to pools and riffles, with habitat for ducks, other waterfowl, wading birds, and raptors. The river is the whole point here, not the size of the parking lot.

The paved path through River Bluffs is one short link in the larger Poudre River Trail, which runs through Fort Collins, Timnath, Windsor, Weld County, and Greeley. So a quick walk along this stretch can open onto miles of river corridor if you keep going. The same water that carved this bank keeps the towns downstream connected.

What makes the spot worth knowing is how ordinary its surroundings are. You can stand within sight of I-25, subdivisions, and county roads, then step onto the trail and find the Poudre still shaping the land the way it always has.
