Climbing Quandary Peak in summer means a parking reservation or a shuttle
Quandary Peak is the popular 14er south of Breckenridge, and in summer you reach its trailhead by a reserved parking spot or a shuttle, not by parking on the road.

Quandary Peak rises above 14,000 feet in the Tenmile Range, just south of Breckenridge. It is one of Colorado’s more approachable fourteeners, which is exactly why getting to the trailhead now takes a little planning.
In the summer months, you do not just drive up and park. The Quandary Peak Trailhead lot, off Highway 9, uses a reservation system, and a shuttle runs from Breckenridge for hikers without a parking spot. Summit County does not allow parking along Highway 9, Blue Lakes Road, or McCullough Gulch Road near the trailhead, so showing up without a plan can mean turning around.
Why this matters: the mountain is busy, the parking is limited, and the rules exist to protect both the road and the alpine terrain. The reservation and shuttle details can change from season to season, and they generally apply only during the busy summer window, not in winter.
Before you head up Quandary Peak, check the White River National Forest trailhead page and Summit County for the current parking reservation and shuttle details.
