Elbert County allows short-term rentals in agricultural and residential zones

In unincorporated Elbert County, a short-term vacation rental is a dwelling, part of a dwelling, or accessory dwelling unit rented for at least one day and no more than 29 days. The county permits this use in every Agricultural and Residential zone district.

That zoning answer is the starting point. Article V.28 contains the standards that apply to the rental, so an allowed zone does not mean a property can be listed without checking the rest of the rule. Confirm the parcel’s zone and make sure the dwelling or accessory unit is already a lawful use of the property.

First confirm that the address is in unincorporated Elbert County. A property inside a town follows that town’s rules instead. For a county address, read the short-term-rental FAQ together with Article V.28, then ask Planning about any requirement that is unclear for that parcel.
